OK, it's time for "Best Tits of The Classic Movie Era"!

She had a few good films, like "The Unknown" with Lon Chaney back in the silent days when she was super-young, and Best Picture winner "Grand Hotel". But she probably had one of the worst wheat-to-chaff ratios around, yes.

First, as you say, there was no movie, and second, Bette Davis was still alive when that book came out and was able to say that her daughter was full of shit. And IIRC Davis had more people to back her up.

She's worked, it's not like she's been panhandling since 1981 or anything. But before Mommie Dearest she was in big hit films like "Bonnie and Clyde" and "Network" and "Three Days of the Condor" and "Chinatown" and whatnot. After "Mommie Dearest", a lot of shit.

It's really a remake of 1928 silent film "Sadie Thompson" which starred Gloria Swanson.

See "Our Dancing Daughters", the film that made her a star.

Edward G. Robinson? I guess Bogie had more lead parts.

Hot as hell.

Beat the Devil is pretty funny.

Humphrey Bogart always had a hard edge to him. Even when he was playing noble heroes in films like "Casablanca" he looked like he wanted to punch someone.

I am a straight man, and those are great tits.

Turning 40 didn't help. But man, you look at that filmography and there is a pretty dramatic Before and After.

She sings a song in "The Hollywood Revue of 1929". You can find it on You Tube. Good voice.

Crawford and Bette Davis famously fought on the set of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" When that movie shocked everyone by becoming a huge hit, Crawford and Davis were cast in "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" which wasn't a sequel but was kind of a sequel, with the same stars and the same kind of Grand Guignol horror

I think she's pretty good in "Grand Hotel".

'Instead, Bastien writes that she is interested in the reasons behind Crawford’s postmortem downfall. She chalks it up to “a resentment of professional women” and evidence of the troubles that older actresses have in an industry that prizes youth.'

"Misandry" is the hatred and dislike of men and boys, and it most certainly does exist.

Having two threads is super stupid.

Having two threads is really stupid.

"McKellen isn't dumbing this down, he's making it more accessible for people who may think it is boring or intimidating"
