Wasn’t Rocco her bio kid with Guy Ritchie? I mean I’m with you that both those adoptions were shady as hell though.

Well, Carrie Fisher has a bipolar disorder and the meds for that can definitely cause the “zoned out” effect. Plus, women aren’t allowed to be as craggy as Harrison Ford, so it looks like she had a bunch of botox injections as well. I thought she still managed to convey a lot of sadness and world weary emotions with…
hee. True!
There are those factors, yes, but we’re talking about instances where the men are getting paid more than women for doing the exact same job. That’s the wage gap being discussed here.
But isn’t the goal of those negotiations, the finish line the agent is trying to reach, to get booked? If those negotiations break down over fees then you don’t reach the finish line. I wasn’t saying that the booking comes first chronologically, but that getting jobs the highest priority.
“The moment she gets hers”? She has “hers”. She’s actually risking “hers” by speaking up and being seen as difficult to work with. I love how you keep saying what she won’t do, as if you can see the future. She is doing something right now by starting this conversation, and giving other women the language to talk…
The agent’s job is to get her booked, and then to get her the highest wage the studio will offer. If, while negotiating for a part the studio says “you know what? There are plenty of other actresses whose agents will take a smaller paycheck.” then the agent isn’t able to book her that job. It’s an industry-wide…
Right. And the studio offers that agent much less than they offer a male star’s agent.
Congratulations! You seem to have missed her point entirely. She’s trying to use her position of privilege, which she openly acknowledges above, to highlight the issue all women face. You talk about her privilege as if it can only be evil, as if using that word shuts down any point she is trying to make and any change…
“youngish”? I’m an old and he looks old to me. Yikes.
Sometimes the shorthand of a family conversation is confusing to us outsiders. I totally had no idea what you were both getting at.
Right. Like, how is this “negativity”? It’s the truth. She wasn’t making a dig or throwing elbows, she was just talking about something that happened.
Yeeeaaah... Islands in the Stream was from 1983. I know The Youngs are writing this shit nowadays but come on.
If I were a betting woman I’d say Widlar is the OP. Just a guess.
“Based on those three sentences, this is something you would like to know more about, correct?”
Oh sure. If that’s what he’s saying it’s utter bullshit, but it’s also different from “How could you do this?”
Anybody else think it looks like he’s saying “I didn’t do this”?
Oh no. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that craziness. Deep breaths. It’s a weird phenomenon where knowing someone blinds you to their evil. We can all see it, though.
I’m no lip-reading expert, but it looks like “I didn’t do this” to me.
Cheers!
