If that was your point, then you should have made it more clear in the original post. Saying "Everyone does this one particular thing, right?" and then calling people names when they say "No, I don't do that behavior, and you probably shouldn't either" is not making the point that everyone has flaws.

I have flaws, not

People aren't saying it's easy to cultivate a great personality or become rich. The idea is, though, that for conventionally unattractive men, being rich/funny/artistic/etc. makes up for being unattractive and he can legitimately hope, in the eyes of society, to attain a conventionally attractive partner.

For women

It's not an insult when you openly admit to vocalizing your distaste for another person's physical appearance, and then go after the rest of us for saying that we don't do that by painting us as pure as the driven snow saints, all with a tone dripping of disdain.

I was merely agreeing with you, and acknowledging that

Here's the difference. A short, bald, weird looking man who makes lot of money, is funny, etc., will still be seen by society as an eligible bachelor, employee with advancement potential, etc. Conventionally unattractive men with skills are still valued by society.

For women, though, conventional attractiveness is a

Muggle isn't an insult. If you're going to try to pick that apart because you have no other argument, at least have your Harry Potter terms right.

No, unfortunately, I just have the magical ability of keeping my mouth shut when petty and unkind thoughts about a person's physical appearance arise. It's kind of like being Harry Potter, sorry you're a muggle.

Okay, so when you got eviscerated for saying "Everyone is vocal about other people being ugly sometimes, AMIRITE?" you turned it into "Everyone has bad thoughts sometimes, and anyone who calls me out for being petty and telling a guy I was too cowardly to ask out his girlfriend was ugly is a GOODY TWO SHOES MEANIE!"

Thank you for taking this person on. You eviscerated them so perfectly I don't need to add anything, but right on. No, we don't all put down other people based on physical characteristics. FFS.

Exactly. I think for some men, they really have not grasped that women don't necessarily look for money/protection in a prospective partner anymore, and therefore we are free to be picky about looks/personality/etc.

I think it depends on the area. I grew up in the North Country, and the "bleach blonde hair/huge fake french manicure/super tan" look is still considered de rigeur.

Yea, I think that classifying PMDD as an illness is a good thing. I'm not a scientist, so I don't know if it should be a hormonal disorder or mental illness, but it would make it much easier for those who have it to get treatment.

My concern, though, is that it will quickly turn into an ADHD/ADD epidemic type of

See, I think of the way it's written as more of a normalizing thing. Given all the pressure women are under to look as perfect as they can as soon as they give birth, I think it's good to have the message of "Hey, this is what happens. It's normal. You'll be okay."

I also think women who are considering their options

They make me think if I have kids, I'll definitely adopt. Kids who need a home get one, and I don't have to be pregnant. BRILLIANT!

I don't think it's fear-mongering to tell women about potential health issues that could arise from pregnancy, especially when we have politicians in this country who think rape victims should be forced to carry pregnancies to term because it's "no big deal" for the female body.

The majority of respected artists and writers are male. Sure, Stephanie Meyer may be a best seller, but most "serious" authors are still male. Respected authors like Naipaul and Eugenides, for instance, have both openly stated that women writers are often inferior.

In art, look how many nudes there are of women. Now

She's not saying that all men do this; she's saying that men CAN do that and not be judged by society. Not all men do, obviously.

I'll bite.

My boyfriend is 5'3'', an inch shorter than I am, and he has never had an issue dating conventionally attractive women. Granted, he has a conventionally attractive face and a nice build, but it is true that there are some women who will discount any men under a certain height, just like many men will

Yea, I know it's petty of me but one of those "You were a total bully in elementary school, but you sort of changed and I have to accept your friend request" people on facebook had one of the ugliest babies I've ever seen. As someone who doesn't particularly like small children, I think most are average at best and

Well, considering that the left is basically a sausage fest, if their whole "I'm a communist" thing is some master plan to snag a lady is a misadventure.
