For that and many other things :)

That line is the reason I started listening to Galaxie 500
Yeah, that's definitely a stretch. Claiming they're not bad is one thing, but they are definitely not better than Guyville
Not true - I got into her in 2013
Yes! I almost posted Ant in Alaska instead, but I figured at least a version of it had been released with the Funstyle bonus disc
Wow yeah, I hadn't even looked closely at that one. The example of changing lyrics that I've seen a lot is on Flower, where "I'll fuck you and your girlfriend too" became "I'll fuck the you and your minions too," which also seems to have lost a bit of its dangerous edge.
Seriously! The girlysound tapes have so much gold on them. I put together a playlist of the "Greatest Hits" from them and it stands up there with some of my favorite albums ever
It works for the first track at least, since the line "I bet you've long since passed understanding what it takes to be satisfied" is a clear Stones reference (and a really great line)
Totally. The line that really does it for me is "but when you said that I wasn't worth talking to/I had to take your word on that" - it's amazing how she can sound so resigned and yet so hurt at the same time
Good list, but in my opinion no discussion of Liz Phair's career is complete without diving into the Girlysound tapes. These demos are really the core of the lo-fi ethos she carried over into Guyville, and there was so much strong songwriting on them that she continued to pull songs from them several albums in. …
Most of the time he's a racist, sexist, ignorant bigot, but sometimes he is … asleep.
Who took the bomp?
____45_____ is my favorite right now. I keep reading that he sampled over 100 saxophones for one track - they never say which but I imagine it has to be that one. And it works so well
Came here just to write that - you beat me to it
Fred Armisen appears as women way too often for there to be any novelty or humor in that aspect of Candace alone. What really makes the character great is how deeply he commits to it and the intensity he brings - Candace really feels like a fleshed out character rather than a quick joke.
That issue comes up a lot, what with Diarrhea Planet and the Dismemberment Plan being bands I talk about often
Excuuuuse me, Princess!
Things like this make me feel the same way. There's just something so awful-sounding about imagining a living thing going through that, even if chickens aren't the smartest of creatures.
A thought just popped into my head: Trump on the Eric Andre show. Andre would have no reservations about making it the worst experience of his life
