This was my thought. Why would we expect him to comment on the layoffs? He runs an award show that’s just the Trojan horse for publisher’s game trailers and announcements. He’s essentially doing freelance marketing. He’s not a journalist or industry activist.

wait, wait wait, before i laugh at you...

It’s basically the same situation as the videogame magazines were in for decades. They needed to be on publisher’s good sides to get early access to games for their content. They couldn’t be overly negative or the publishers cut them off. Some magazines would push the limits of that which made them good reading. But I

I’m confused as to why people seem to think Keighley should be an activist. His shows are and have always been marketing shows. The only time he’s ever mentioned a publisher in a negative light was Konami and that was only after it essentially left the gaming industry and was no longer relevant.

Geoff is our Dorito Pope.

I mean, he is the RED ranger...

To be fair, it is *very* easy and profitable to separate Conservative Reactionaries from their money.

Hitler was responsible for the murder of millions of Jews, Slavs, homosexuals, disabled, Romany, Russian, Ukrainian and really anyone he thought was “subhuman” or “inferior”.

Once a developer has tasted that sweet live service microtransaction honey, there’s no coming back...

Or why it wasn’t used in Suicide Squad. I think that’s a point that often gets missed in those comparison vids. The Arkham games are specific single player experiences and the combat and environment reflect, while SS and Gotham Knights gameplay system has to take into account multiple player characters fumbling around

tbf: that’s a dope as fuck trailer and it’d be cool if they can repurpose some of that content for a more simpler, multiplayer mode.

But yeah, probably for the best this got cancelled.  Lord only knows that Insomniac doesn’t need a hit to their reputation.

Now if only WB could actually understand...

Yeah... the problems started with PD2. PayDay was fun! Played it with friends quite a lot. We still reference some of the dialog as we’re working through our second BG3 playthrough. So, it was natural that we’d play PD2. And it was fine. At first.

I feel a bullet was dodged by this being cancelled.

Kind of sounds like Sony’s first parties are getting wary of live-service, not that I’m complaining. Probably for the best but I am kind of curious if a two-player mode could work for Spider-man.

But but but just give them 12-36 more months and we’ll all be talking about the amazing come back story!!!

Don’t screw over your Steam fanbase by moving the PayDay2 multiplayer servers to Epic, which made them lose all their progress in-game. That killed a lot of the goodwill PayDay 2 got them over the years.

Full on live service game, no thank you. I’m glad they realized no one wants that. But a multiplayer free roam mode with a buddy or two, yes please :D

Instructions unclear: OBVIOUSLY the problem is there weren’t enough microtransactions.

The lesson here: Don’t release broken games.
