Like every other car on the road, hybrids make sense in the right environment. Hybrid Taxis are a bigger benefit to the cities they are in than a prius that is driven cross-country non-stop would be.

The side-on shot illustrates the problem with these vehicles. With a more upright cab, you could chop 6" out of the cab length and either shorten the overall length, or lengthen the bed.

In a world of focus-group-derived names, the race for the biggest logo in a grille, and GM's "Mark of Excellence" and it's 3-page long positioning manual, I find it refreshing that the Jeep branding on this car is in quotation marks.

I know, but I ain't tellin'.

I'll bet it sounded like a garbage truck, falling off the Eiffel Tower.

I like it IF it recharges the main pack when parked. Again, most people drive to the office, park the car for 8 hours, then drive home and park the car for 16 hours. It's not like the sunlight shining on your parking lot is helping plant life, so why shouldn't it power your commute?

ATTENTION PLEASE, THIS CAR IS BACKING UP.

I've never ridden with a BMW group (in Canada, everyone rides Harleys... VERRRRRRRRY SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWLY), but there is one that has regular meetings at The Pancake House in Smithville. Every time they are there I have to wait an extra hour for breakfast.

The styling failed to captivate me. Like a lot of cars, it seems to run out of ideas at the A-pillar. Then I started to read the press release, got this far:
