The Chi-Peps probably get crapped on more than they deserve. Californication was perfectly fine adult rock album.

Stupify was all over the radio in fall of 2000, as I recall. It definitely seemed like the breakout hit until Down With The Sickness came along.

Not sure what you’re talking about here. Goodfellas is a movie about cool guys hanging out and having a good time.

I should specify - I think it works really well with the pirate ship/pirate village setting, probably less so for the Lost Boys’ Ewok village/woods setting.

“A wizard did it” is the go-to response for that kind of nonsense. Thank you, Homer Simpson.

See, I like the “obviously shot on a soundstage while trying to not look like it was shot on a soundstage” aesthetic. I can’t articulate why.

Totally agree. When I finally got around to watching Deadpool, I definitely had a feeling of “this seems like something that would’ve been a fun, fresh idea in like 1998.” Seems like plenty of people liked it, since it made a bazillion dollars.

You and me both.

Menacing and melancholy at the same time. There was also a Vine (when Vine existed) of Robin Williams saying “Neon Genesis Evangelion” from that movie.

Yeah, maybe should’ve said 10 year old. I was probably about 10 when I discovered swearing.

A Whole New World is a fine song but it in no way “bangs” nor “slaps.”

Can we put a moratorium on the word “banger” for a little while? Or at least use it a little more judiciously.

I much prefer Robin Williams going full bozo mode to Ryan Reynolds doing tepid snark and swearing like a 12 year old who just discovered bad words.

Hoffman is very clearly having a blast playing Captain Hook. Just hamming it up.

I re-watched the movie recently and had a lot of whiplash trying to figure out the geography. I had to assume he lived somewhere like Uptown/Edgewater/Rogers Park because he was on the purple line (and clearly going past Graceland Cemetery north of Irving Park Rd.), which seems like an awfully long commute to Wicker

The Double Door closing and the space becoming a goddamn Yeti Cooler store is some real “paved paradise and put up a parking lot” shit.

He changed his name to Jeffrey Lebowski and just kind of floated around LA.

Yeah, Lord of the Rings still looks really good. Much, much better than the Hobbit movies, which came out a decade later. The Hobbit movies look like shit.

I have a soft spot for movies with outdoor scenes that are very obviously shot on a soundstage, like Hook.

By kid power movies, are you talking about stuff like Blank Check?
