There are dozens of us!

Big win for all us Venomheads out there.

Memphis is very fun in an “I might literally die at any time, but I’m too drunk to care” way.

Nashville is the spiritual home of every suburban girl who claims to be “country at heart” because she owns cowboy boots and her parents are racist.

Jeff Lynne immediately came to mind. It’s not always a bad thing, but they always have that Jeff Lynne/ELO sheen.

I mean, Pitchfork was touting that stuff about ten years ago, but I don’t think it’s really their thing anymore.

Sam, buddy, I hope you’re doing alright.

Man, was he ever prescient.

I’ll still go to bat for Gladiator.

No, I totally understand what you’re saying. The casting in general was good, the sets and costumes were good, everything else was not good.

That movie stunk and was extremely of its time, but Pitt was fine in it. Sean Bean was good choice as Odysseus, too.

Sort of like Colin Ferrell!

I remember it being very long and very gray, and the titular assassination scene you mentioned, but not a whole lot else. It might be a candidate for a re-watch.

Good point.

Not sure I agree that modern Star Wars fan culture is something to be celebrated. At best, it’s a highly cynical cash grab by a corporate monolith that’s slowly gobbling up everything. At worst, it’s a bunch of emotionally stunted man children getting mad about the SJWs killing their childhood.

Inter isn’t exactly “good” either, but at least the weather’s nicer.

Samir and Michael, at the very least, seem resigned to their fates. They’re trying to make it work within the system, and don’t seem to viscerally hate their work the way Peter does. I think the simple “blue collar work is more noble than white collar work” framing is off, in any case.

Wow, no love for the Adam Sandler/Jon Stewart megahit Big Daddy?

Oh yeah, a lot of these movies were in heavy DVD rotation for me circa 2001-03.

Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie since the original prequel and it’s not particularly close in my mind.
