Also, to be really pedantic, Aegon never even made it to the north. The last Stark king (before Robb, of course) marched south and surrendered when he saw the dragons, rather than get totally wiped out.

The Night King in the books and the one in the show are seemingly two completely different characters. The one in the books existed after White Walkers/The Others had already been defeated the first time and sent back up north.
How many people outside of the North even know the army of the dead is coming? The Ironborn, I guess, and maybe a handful of people in King’s Landing? My point is, the rest of the country won’t know or care that Jon and Dany beat the Night’s King because they have no idea who or what the Night’s King was.
Also, the last time dragons came up north was well after Aegon’s Conquest. Queen Alyssane Targaryen visited the wall on her dragon and she was very well received by the northmen - so much so that they named one of the now-abandoned castles at the Wall after her. I hope Tyrion gets fired for that blunder.
Yeah, the whole battle just didn’t have the apocalyptic feeling that it deserved. It didn’t feel like humanity’s last stand or Westeros’s last stand. It felt...local? The further I get, the more underwhelmed and disappointed I am, I think. I guess I always pictured something more like the Battle Of Pelennor Fields,…
Richard Splett might be my favorite character on television. Everything he says has me howling.
I want Rickon to live in the books and become the cannibal king of the North.
It looked like there were two dragons in the sky in the previews after the episode, so I guess he survived. They sure didn’t make it clear either way.
She’d be way more muscular if it were a Ben Garrison cartoon.
Well, that and Ramsay Snow becoming Ramsay Bolton.
Kinda stepping on On Cinema’s turf a little bit with the coverage of these Popcorn Classics?
Trump is going to get reelected. I’ve never been more sure of it. These boneheads are gonna screw it up and lose to him again somehow.
Poor CJ. I hope he figures it out in Iowa.
Speak for yourself, David. I feel a lot better knowing that Tom Ricketts would (probably) rather funnel his money into some makework job for Scott Walker than do literally anything of consequence to fix the gaping hole in the Cubs’ bullpen.
I’ve wanted one of these for as long as I can remember, but living in a big city with a small garage space means I have to keep on dreaming. Maybe some day...
I’m not a particularly religious person, but it was impossible to not be overwhelmed with the sort of grandness you described when I visited St. Peter’s Basilica. I’ve been in bigger buildings, but a basketball arena or skyscraper doesn’t quite hit you the same way as something that old and that grand, for lack of a…
True, and he, along with Arya, are supposed to be the most stereotypical “Stark” looking of all the Stark kids. It might be a tough sell.
The only two episodes of E1 I’ve listened to are the ones with NBA Stupid A$$ - “Black Flanders” and Dudes Rock 2018 and I liked both. I need to just subscribe and add it to the rotation.
He was really excited to watch Party Monster. Also, the special young man with a keen interest in public intellectuals had me howling.
He certainly seems to grasp the true meaning of the whole “winter is coming” thing.
