Yeah I think Xo usupred Lina's role on the show both given her very close relationship with her daughter and the fact that Xo and Lina have similar personalities.

I think the writers of JTV must be Maria Semple fans since remember Jane's previous crush bought her a copy of Where'd ya go Bernadette and then promptly spoiled the ending (to quickly telegraph that he's a lousy human being)

Yes but Petra's very ambitious and anxious to project her success coupled with the fact that she's prefers to delegate unwanted tasks to hired help. Wheras Jane's attitude towards money is always centered more on frugality and feeling empowered to do things herself.

Idk given that Petra is basically Mateo's….Aunt/? I guess woukd be the closest analogue I think diciplining him woukd've acceptable except that Jane is so embarrassed and ashamed about Mateo's behavior so she gets extra defensive.
