I’d argue that we have been @ peak muscle for about a decade. Throw out the Demon/Hellcat/GT500/ZL1 because those are way too god damn expensive to be a muscle car. You touch on this somewhat in the blog, but those deserve their own class of something like supermuscle.

Obviously, that was peak classic muscle car. But I think you can make a credible argument for today being peak muscle car. You couldn’t buy a 9 second car from the factory in 1972.

Dodge Demon. I’m young so recency bias, but Dodge just looked everyone in the eyes and said “Yeah it does wheelies and has a warranty”

  • Did Russell take a risk on a damp track. YES

I actually like the design - a little overwrought (too many things happening), but the overall shape is pleasing. The side profile is particularly nice, but accentuates the fact that those overhangs are massive!

You’re all apparently assuming that money collected from a tax raise, any tax raise, will be used on its intended target rather than frittered away by various interests in government. Taxes get raised, some US Senator spends the cash on gender studies in Pakistan, and roads remain shit.

Even automakers are on board.

The whole thing is kinda bizarre. I graduated college with I think $300 in my bank account, not exactly $4500 to blow on a road trip vehicle.

My guess, it’s the stancy boi stretched tires that only last like 1k miles max. And you can get hellaflush for under $1500 all in on a Toyobaru, so it’s pretty cheap to do. God I hate that whole scene...

Good luck finding a running, reliable fit for $2500. You must have your head in the sand if you haven’t noticed the impact of the pandemic on used car prices.

Drives a modded FR-S as a sophomore in college and has 4500 to buy a second vehicle? Damn, I was lucky to treat myself to a box of kraft mac n cheese for dinner, after rent and tuition.

I agree this is kind of an unnecessarily assholish snipe at the big 3. Regardless of non-Tesla companies previously being slower to the line and trailing Tesla in pushing self-driving vehicles, they’re rapidly closing the gap or have essentially closed it

I don’t expect a New York blogger to know anything about what the manufacturers are up to.

I haven’t said anything about the negative tone for months, but finally, you’ve lost me here — disappointing, lazy writing, with no reasoning to support:

Kind of why they move to rural VT, for solitude and privacy. Not shocked they don’t want an Off-roadeo going through their backyard. Love the Bronco, and I’m from VT (15 min away, grew up skiing the mountain they want to have it at) but not at all upset about any of this. Towns can decide what events you hold in them

Im not sure if you have been to vermont in the past year or not but I totally understand these residents concerns. The outdoor tourism has been huge this year and there are already a ton of idots tearing up our class 4s. We dont need more of them.

yeah, theyre upset that ford is basically turning their road network in to a playground.... keep in mind, the roads arent maintained by tax dollars, but the dollars of the residents themselves. so it’s a considerable extra burden on the folks living there.

Ford is hosting Bronco Off-Rodeos around the country for new Bronco owners, which this was supposed to be. They are locations where new Bronco owners can go, stay, and be taught how to off-road....
