If people are buying games because their achievesments/trophies are easy to get, then that proves my point that many people put a lot of weight into that feature when deciding what game to purchase. Given that, I don't see these people buying ps1/ps2 classics on PSN due to lack of trophies.

I couldn't disagree more. It was a very easy game to jump into, in fact that was how I was drawn in.

We might be in the minority now my friend

Sage, I wish that were the case, but I've met people who have skipped games that didn't have trophy support. I know Microsoft mandates Achievement support but early PS3 games didn't have trophy support, so gems like Folklore and Valkria Chronicles have gone overlooked. I grew up a PC gamer so I could play through a

Would modern gamers play a game that don't have achievements/trophies? Would they (gasp) play a game for the mere pleasure of playing a game? I know someone who returned Oblivion and Valkria Chronicles because they never put trophy support on those two games.

Great List Tim, great job at selecting the overlooked gems as well.

I'm assuming that means the original was successful in the states, that's great news.

it's not because it's by square, it's because it's the same character designer. and you're putting the chicken before the egg. Kingdom Hearts is after Final Fantasy.

Yeah I'm assuming there's something liberating about working as a contractor without being an employee of said company. It's amazing all the talent that worked at Square Enix at one point or another. I think they'll reach a point where they have no one else and they'll be left alone with their licensees but no

You and me both. Well he's part of a large migration of talent that left Square Enix. Maybe he'll join an awesome startup with other talent at some point.

Yasumi Matsuno tweeted the other day that he would not return to create another Ivalice game, which broke everyone's hearts. Would have loved a next gen game set in Ivalice, perhaps with Balthier as the leading man. Final Fantasy Tactics was so damn addictive. Thanks for creating this amazing FF world.

I think you just may be averse to strategy games.

Ill have to check it out, sounds good

Are you saying idiocracy was based on a book? Because it wasn't.

Connected my PS2 to my bedroom TV today. The PS3 is hooked up to my living room TV. It's still an amazing console. In fact, neither the ps3 or 360 has matched the ps2 in terms of its library, innovations and creative breakthroughs that happened in the system's short life span (short relative to this extraordinarily

No kidding around, when I was 5 I LOVED horror movies because the girls always took their top off. I loved that stuff. I think they're overreacting, especially if it was just still photos. The kid will be fine, but because the family is making a media case out of it, now they're further embedding this memory in his

Surely you're joking. $99 for a home console and a portable unit? So you want them to bleed money don't you? It makes no difference how old the games are. You can go to iOS store and find Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy tactics being sold for $10 or more. The age has nothing to do with it, if the quality of what's

I have no problem justifying the cost. My girlfriend doesn't think computers or video game consoles are worth they money they charge for them, because she doesn't care about them. Value is a perception based and many would disagree with you that a louie v bag would be worth $1000. It is worthless to you, but not

You're obviously not brilliant. This is obviously hardware for Neo Geo fans who want the home Neo Geo experience but don't have the funds to purchase the (still) expensive system and still incredibly expensive games. So nevermind the R&D money they spent into developing the portable console they included with this

Yes it's for hardcore Neo Geo fans
