@Evodico: The guy says 750lbs, which sounds about right, it might have actually been a little more. The finished weight I think was around 60lbs. All that turned into little "chips" about the size of your fingernail and filled up several 55gal drums.
I modeled and did the CNC programming for that front wheel! It's cool to see it on Jalopnik! It was actually pretty easy compared to some of the other wheels I've done, it just takes a while to remove all that metal.
@S52 iX: I used to have a gokart that was right wheel drive. Seems like wheel spin would be a problem with anything over 5hp though.
For a "real" race car it wasn't very fast, I passed it a few times in the Fat Cat Jaguar. Of course we managed to pass a lot of people until Sunday when it started raining and the drive shaft was coming apart.
