John McCain was a remarkably and consistently principled man, his one principle being “John McCain is great and should always be receiving fawning praise and unconditional adulation.” Donald Trump has repeatedly violated that principle, so Cindy McCain’s endorsement is not surprising.

While the antibodies developed by those who have recovered from covid-19 offer protection from the virus, the extent of their effectiveness—and whether it’s possible to contract covid-19 again—is unclear.

Big surprise. Hollywood’s ageism and misogyny extends to social media! It’s unfortunate that people are obsessed with age when it comes to actors’ ages and roles, but this isn’t new. Unfortunately, people are obsessed with “taking down” people in positions they don’t feel deserve to be there. Women are too often the

This is an interesting take.  Is there a reason you did not address the ageism in Hollywood and the reasons actors make adjustments not just to pretend they are younger, but to prevent casting folks to discount them out of hand because they are older than XXX?

I picked up their book at the library and the first photo I saw was four identical Louis Vuitton bags hung up next to each other in a closet.

I can’t help but wonder how much of this is a disease of affluence. The usual explanations for belief in conspiracy theories tended to focus on the marginalised - people who felt powerless and voiceless, who were seeking a sense of control and certainty they couldn’t otherwise find. They wanted to be able to believe

The Republicans probably would have just run her for Senate.

I don’t think it’s fair to hold Ellen to the standard of “nice” she sets on her show.  That is an act.  No one could be that nice 100% of the time.  I think it’s fair to hold her to the standard of not presiding over a toxic workplace.  If a man would get away with that, the answer is not to say “Well then, it’s okay

she made a few requests”

I get the anger though. Maybe don’t undermine your candidate by angering a large portion of your base when you NEED THEM to vote for him. They could have just let the primaries play out instead of laying their hands on the scale and they wouldn’t have ended up with so many people upset.

To be fair re: the carrot anecdote, they are extremely high in sugar and many people following very low carb (aka keto, keto-adjacent) diets nix them. And I’ve heard the “heavier lunch, lighter dinner” yammer being repeated for decades, so whether it has any viable health benefit or not, it’s not new advice.

Agree that this is unhealthy, but also, having a mentality in which a person can be “caught” eating cake is not really healthy either. Unless she stole that cake from a birthday party and ran away with it while the children cried, you didn’t catch her doing anything.

Thanks so much for your self-awareness, Megan. I think a huge problem with media in general (journalism, film, tv, etc) is that it is produced by elites and they are insulated by financial and racial segregation from people with real problems. The articles you mention (I am a NYT subscriber) are off-putting to so

damn right it does! or croutons or crustilles (is that how you spell it? the little toasted bread you put tastier stuff on).

Does making it into breadcrumbs count? I don’t like eating it, but I also don’t want to waste it.

The purpose of the heel is to keep the rest of the bread loaf fresh, not for eating.

Even reading the list of regular dishes he makes is exasperating to me, a person living in a country where increasing numbers are going to food banks.

“Die” is definitely the GOP-approved healthcare plan.

What you say is certainly true, but to take advantage of them people have to have a number of things that they might not have if they are also poor. Internet. Phone with internet capacity or computer with internet access. The understanding that those things exist. The understanding of how to find those things on the
