They probably could have started their vehicles at $90,000 without any of their buyers batting an eye. If Rivian offered a more basic trim that started closer to $60,000 they’d be selling…

600 miles still isn’t practical. Most of us drive 3,000 miles a day, in a blizzard  across Antartica. How’s the mileage at -60°?
