As a PHEV owner, I gave up charging in public places because I know there are EV drivers out there that can use some juice before they run out. But it is clear that not everyone thinks that way.

I can see that happending, but if they flag VINs for VW TDI cars in the DMV registration system, the car will have a hard time passing the required smog test for registration renewal.
I have a win-win for both VW and their loyal customers...a buy-back program at full MSRP or trade for a 2015/2016 vehicle . Doing so from a PR perspective can only be a win for VW and a def better than nothing for their loycal customer base.
As a Prius Plug-in driver, all I have to say is at least my car gets me from point A to B without any of these issues. Can a TDI get 75 mpg on a 39.8 mile one way commute?
