I was too young to be interested in Dallas or any of the prime time soaps when they first aired(although my mom was a big Knot's Landing fanatic). I just saw the opening credits and that's all I remember so they mixed up in my head and I always confuse "Linda Gray" with "Linda Evans" from Dynasty!

I thought it worked because of Higgins.

Interesting to read that Ayn Rand loved the James Bond of the Ian Fleming books but hated the movies, because she didn't like the tongue-in-cheek humor that she thought mocked and undercut the literary character who she regarded as a "romantic hero".

It's weird because that whole John Galt speech is about how the principals of Jesus suck. They never mentions his name but Galt is saying "love thy neighbor" and everything Jesus preached is bullshit.

I don't it's the people who were already born into wealth that Ayn Rand had that much influence on. They tend to pity the poor and give to charities but still like having yachts. It's the people who want to be wealthy and with ambition that worship her. The ones who think if the poor should work harder and not be

When I was in college I read the book(which isn't easy, that John Galt speech is a bitch to get through) I realized how important subtext is. That it's more effective for an author convey their ideas and beliefs through more subtle ways, beneath the story than having your characters outright state them as they do in

Howard Roark was an architect. He wasn't the one paying for them.

"Baby, I'm not from Havana!"

Well I liked the episode. I laughed at Luke trying to look at the girl undressing behind Alex and Jay's use of the word "deal".

I just listened to a bit of Michaela Watkins on Maron's WTF and man I wish she would have done her "Andie McDowell getting held hostage" impression when she was on SNL. Just that 5 second bit I heard made me LOL!

Yeah, Hahn and Gasteyer are basically twins.

I didn't know Ed Begley Jr. was friends with Marlon Brando until I saw the TCM documentary about Brando from a few years ago. Begley's impression of him is SPOT ON and this story of how he wanted to contribute to Ed's green energy interests was hilarious:

Thanks!

I remember first seeing him and Ryan Gosling on that late 90s show about a high school on a cruise ship. Yes friends it's as awesome as it sounds.

It took me a long time to get into Python until I saw MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL and loved it. I realized it's because they never ended their sketches, just segued into another through Terry Gilliam's animation and that was irritating to me. I like closure(and yeah I know Holy Grail ends with the police stopping

The snappy patter is what turned me off from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer show for the first season and a half. I watched it occasionally but It wasn't until the episode "Innocence" where it takes a very dark turn where I felt that he could be more than glib. He can really punch you in the gut and tear your heart out.

I'm the opposite. It takes me a while to get into a Woody Allen movie if he's not in it. It's because he has a surrogate in his place and it's weird seeing someone like John Cusack or Kenneth Branagh act like Woody.

I love the videos of the 1975 Odeon Hammersmith show in London. There's a looser, ramshackle vibe to the performance from Bruce and the E Street Band onstage and his interaction with the British audience. It's more intimate than the 80s stadium shows later but still fun.

I went through my first listen of "London Calling" and out of the 19 songs I only really liked "Lost in the Supermarket".

Yeah I actually have no problem with Morrison but Manzarek is what makes the Doors for me.
