it’s mostly dependent on internet speed than CPU, although a decent CPU will certainly help but LAN speed is the biggest issue.

Agreed. I have an ASUS wifi router and only use the 5GHz channel for
Plex, it works much better. +1

Mine has always worked too. It’ll do a redirect thing (I forget the term they use) but it’ll work nonetheless

one thing I’m having an issue with is when there’s movies that are remakes of older ones. The artwork will always show the original older movie poster from many years previous instead of the new stuff, every movie I have that is a remake of an original one from way back when has the older artwork...anyway to fix this

WOW, you get worked up this bad over someone having a hobby? there’s meds you should probably look into. Many people build hackintoshed VERY successfully without shelling out near the cash it’d cost to buy the same machine that’s a TRUE Apple hardware based Mac and they last for years and run just as good and mostly

Well if you’d have read a bit you’ll see it;s a project mac and I have several others including a 2 year old one and have hackintoshed many (over 20 easily) so it was simply more of an observation that you’re looking far too deep into. It’s called a “hobby” lmao. And it’s only obsolte in the most RECENT Beta of an OS

yeah, I hear ya, just sucks..lol..not a big deal. I have my hackintosh Tower and a Newer 2013 Retina 13" so not necessary just would love t have tried Sierra on my older one instead of the newer one but I’ll just create an additional partition on my newer MBP and do it that way. +1

Absolutely!! The only REAL benefit to Sierra ultimately is Siri, but if you slap an SSD in that Laptop it’ll haul ass and I mean boot in seconds (8-12 tops so do that and it’ll last a few more years even. Solid state Drives are the best way to revive SUPER fast life into an older laptop or desktop. A 500GB is about

Correct. I’ve built literally 20+ hackintoshed for friends and myself...Gotta love tonymacx86.com Woot!!! +1

Mine was supported on a brand new SSD from a fresh install, didn’t have to do it this way but it is a way to do it of course too. I simply installed it and it was enabled and active already starting at Yosemite :-)

Yep, doing this now. I’m slip streaming the install into a chameleon bootloader for my PC but also prepping a USB stick. I think t’ll install fine if I don’t do the Apple update route and make my own installer. Will report later and report my findings. I’ve done it this way many many times and it’s worked fine.

I have, this is just an old hacking toy but Sierra DP is compatible with MID 2009 MB and MBP also, so an early 2009 MB and MBP shouldn’t really be anything different. The ONLY difference between the two if you read up a bit above....is the EMC version and mine is actually higher spec’d than my wife’s which took the

Oh I’ve built many hackintoshes both laptop and many desktops (probably 20 or so, maybe 30 even) and even run one now (quad-core i5 4.0 with a 980GB SSD and 32GB ram) but this is for a client. I’d never buy a MacBook/Pro NEW....no way....you’re better to hackintosh the same spec computer that’s nearly 2/3 maybe less

Trim is built into ElCapitan...or supported etc. I’ve been running a Corsair 480GB SSD in my early 2009 15" for over a year and ZERO issues.....it hauls ass.

Bingo! That’s the only reason I’m hellbent on getting it to work on a early 2009 (if at all) because I’d LOVE to have Siri on my MBP...

Well my chip set is a 2.66, hers is a 2.4 both core 2 duo and like I said I have more video ram, regular ram and even an SSD (which doesn’t matter as far as requirements but I even put the still intact El Capitan HD and then tried again and got the same error (does not meet minimum requirements etc) so I’m at the

I AM going to (and doing now) download the actual DMG file (torrent) and make a bootable disc (probably USB) and see if it’ll install that way rather than using App Store.....I’ll report back full specs and what worked or didn’t work in a couple hours when download and usb stick is ready. +1

Great thought but no. they both run previously El Capitan and have the speech dictation and the enhanced option as well....I think the cut off is reliant on the EMC number and nothing more when it comes the whether an early or mid model will work because mine has higher specs all around and it won’t install. Wife’s is

What’s REALLY shitty is it requires (currently) a MID or late 2009 MB or MBP or higher to install and run. I have an early 2009 MBP with the SAME exact specs as my wifes mid 2009 model and she can install it and i can’t and I also have more ram and an SSD....BS Apple. If ElCapitan can run on a late 2008 core 2 duo

Ahhhh crap. Thank you, but I need a LATE 2009 or better, mine is an older workbench Mac for when I need one doing my IT but it’s an early 2009 MBP 15" bummer... lol....I should have checked the reqs. first but got excited lol. Sad that a 8GB 15" with a 500GB SSD and a 2.66 C2Duo doesn’t meet the requirements...that’s
