Sneakers look nice, but they’re almost all horrible for your health. In fact, any shoe with a heal, unnecessary arch support(!), too much lazy cushioning, and a squished toe-box, is horrible for your feet, knees, hips, and back. Do yourself a favor and research zero-drop” minimalist / barefoot shoes -- it’ll change

Beans don’t alter the taste of chili very much, so I’m pro-redkidney-bean, for the sole reason that it’s a great filler to stretch the number of days of chili leftovers. Recently started cooking my beans with baking soda — thanks lifehacker(!) — too make ‘em even more tender, quicker.

Hard to taste the difference in left-over chili if you’re the type of person who always mixes in super spicy hotsauce. :)

Big ticket expenses like tuition and property tax are the only instances I can recall writing checks for recently. Pretty much all my other bills are paid directly from checking via online banking, or externally via credit, with credit automatically paid off monthly.

Same. I considered switching from KeePass + Dropbox (for cross-device sync), for Bitwarden’s slicker opensource solution, but I’m good. If it ain’t broke...

Many apps require you to re-enter your password every so often, even if they work with just fingerprint auth most of the time. The Target app, for example, requires re-logging in every few months, which I had to do just the other day (using the klunky KeePass2Android app).

Whoawhoa... BitWarden doesn’t have an option to reprompt the master password for certain critical accounts? Thanks for the headsup.

And you people need to stop calling it the Affordable Care Act. It’s the Unaffordable Pro-Insurance Industry Care Act.

Love the OrbitKey as well. About two years ago I ditched my noisy keyring for a nylon OrbitKey and wish I’d done it sooner. Also swapped out my old Victorinox keychain edc knife for a simpler key-sized multi-tool that fits nicely alongside my 3 main keys.

My son told me his 5th grade class discussed this in Social Studies today, instead of their usual subject. Bravo!

I long ago resigned myself to the nihilistic notion that there is no TRUE meaning of life (beyond biological reproduction); the only purpose is what you choose to make of it. Whether that’s family, power, fighting for social justice, simple hedonism, or just distracting yourself with things like work in order to live

My $20 Mr. Coffee is actually excellent.

“Oh my gawd! ... It’s mutating!!!”

No. The vaccine hasn’t been tested on kids yet and it’s not expected to be rolled out for them until late 2021, at which point the school year will already have started. The 2022 school year admissions may make it a requirement, though.

No thanks. I will go without while fighting for M4A, and probably die trying.

Such a lovely article for the oblivious 1%er & trustfund crowd, who are pretty much the only ones who would ever “invest $1,000 in a single piece of clothing. For a tenth of the price you can pick up a new past season North Face parka and you’ll be just as warm & stylish.

TO THE EDITOR: You’re missing the name of the book in this article; the grammar doesn’t flow in a few spots. Search for “author of”.

Pay people to get the vaccine if we really want 70%! A lot of people in the US are in dire need of some stimulus anyway, and a CARROT works much better than the SHAME STICK, so why not tie ‘em together. Former congressman John Delaney has already proposed this $1500 incentive bill.

How hard is it to put a barcode or QR code on the wristband? Then an official app simply queries the main database to see if it’s valid (and not cloned/queried all over the place). Easy.
