If you're looking for something similar that's ready-made and looks a bit cleaner, look at your local fishing/boating store for rod holders: They're basically the same thing, but with a plastic 'case'. Like this one:

It is very good, just pay attention to the expiration date on it, it actually does start to taste bad if you keep it around too long before making it.

I don't currently, but am in the market for one, and if pick up an old one cheap like this, and refurb it, I'd be all for that.

I (and my dad) have been using that stuff on all of our boat stuff for years - life jackets, hypalon, pvc, etc. Great stuff, works amazingly well.

I use it everyday, it's how I get my web comics. It's especially great for ones that don't update daily - Order of the Stick, Dresden Codak, The Brads, etc. I don't use it for reading actual articles, though, I tried that once, and it felt like a firehose that was trying to shove too much down my throat at once.

Or donate. Or take to a consignment shop, if that applies.

Huzzah, I'm still coasting on the old login cookie at work!

A couple questions:

What I've been doing is using voice control to send texts - I never have to look at the screen. Anyone have any experience with the law and this?

Since I'm usually traveling for pleasure, I can be pretty casual:

This is where it's at. Plus, it's a gateway into sous vide cooking, which provides it's own pre-prep benefits - I like to buy a big pack of chicken breasts, pre-cook them, then chuck all that I won't use in the next day or two in the freezer. This gives me an easy way to add some protein to a stir fry or other dish

The way I view it is that my phone is a window into the tech world - that I and my life are one one side, and what people publish into the world are in public view on the other. In that view, I don't want someone to be able to just wander up to my window, pull back the curtains, and poke their head inside and see what

I'm assuming, from the "Scan Interval" option above, that it only checks the accelerometer for orientation as often as you set it to (every 5 seconds, in this case). If that's so, it would be a much lower drain on your battery than running your antennas constantly.

Yeah, I'd like to see some pirates head towards one of these ships. Wonder how many missiles/RPGs/bullets heading their way it'd take to get them to turn around.

For some reason the linked video is now private, here's the new one:

Thanks, I'll give them a look. I haven't had the best experiences with over the ear ones like that, but I haven't tried the Philips ones yet.

I run outside, which allows me to distract myself with the scenery outdoors. Besides that, though, I do find that I need some music most of the time. It helps keep me motivated. My problem is this - I currently only have the apple supplied earbuds. In the winter, I could put a hat over them to keep them in, and it

I'm planning on getting one, but only because I've been a good boy, and taken care of most of the other things on my list. Also, I need to replace my netbook which is beginning the death spiral after 4+ years of dutiful heavy-duty service. Anymore, I need a media consumption device (ipad) much much more than I need a

I'm looking to scan the barcode, not for price, but to have an idea of what I've been buying - basically an inventory system. I figure that I have other ways to control my spending, I just want to know what sort of things might be lurking in the back of my cupboards.
