Okay, I'm not getting it - all the iDevices mentioned have touchscreens, a large number of ATMs have touchscreens, apparently gas pumps do, and I know of a large number of GPS devices with touchscreens. Unless one of those is a resistive touchscreen where all the others are capacitive, I don't see it.

Figured I should post my rebuttal up here as well:

Just a couple comments:

I'll definitely second you on the pot larger than the food, I did 2 large turkey breasts, and had to move them around a bit.

I am plugged in the back of the box, it just gives me a constant noise level. When I was plugged in the front I got noise from all sorts of stuff, like the mouse wheel, and moving stuff around on the screen. I'll look into a speakerbar, Thanks!

I don't know anything about BB phones, but I would wonder if there wouldn't be a number you could text to get your remaining balance of minutes, and (from what I've heard) they don't charge you for either your text or the reply (not sure on that, though).

Ahh, I don't have any speakers (and would get odd looks if I did). I'll think about it though.

Have you ever tried a sous vide steak? I don't know if I'll make a steak another way again.

Any chance you could try to re-post the image? I'd love to see your setup, because it's what I'd be looking to upgrade to next (read below for what I'm using). What kind of uniformity do you think the air pump gets you?

I'm having a problem with my audio setup at work. I'm using some mee electronics M6 sound-isolating earbuds (because they very nicely isolate me from the noise around me), but I have to have the volume so low on my computer that I'm also hearing a considerable amount of noise from the computer. Anyone know of a way to

Ahh, sorry, forgot to mention that - it does not come with any connectors. I just picked up one of those extension cords with the 3 plug outlet on the end (like this: [www.amazon.com] ) from a second hand store, cut it in half, and wired the two halves into the controller.

As I understand it the temperatures are low enough (135 - 176 deg F) that no chemicals are released. Can anyone double-check me on this?

That's what I've been doing (see below for my parts list) - it certainly works well enough for me. Also, some older crock pots (and a few hard to find new ones) have temperature dials (or at least continuously adjustable dials), so you can fine tune the input heat. However, you need to near-continuously monitor these

That's actually quite similar to what I started with - I just used a thermometer to double check the temperature every 15 minutes, and bumped the knob left or right to manually control the temperature. I think I had a range of +- 3 or 4 degrees - good enough for a medium steak (and as you're doing long term heat

Here's what I'm using:

If anyone has any questions on mid-level setups, I've put one together (sealer, temp controller, crock pot) for about $125, so it's not that hard to get into. Also, I've done steaks and turkey, if you have any questions on how they turn out.

Is that supposed to be a link to flickr? Because I'd like to see more, if it's available.

I doubt I'll ever get into snowboarding (born and raised skier), but if I did I'd probably figure out a way to fit a collapsible pole on my board or something so I wouldn't have to do the one foot in, one foot out awkwardness that I coast right by.

I've done this a couple time with nalgenes when out camping in the winter, keeps your feet nice and toasty.

I have the space shuttle set (#6), and it's just as awesome as it looks. Definitely a must buy.
