@atomic.resistance: I prefer the Consumerist's. I know it favors the early commenters on an article, but it is much more conducive to a long conversation on a topic (which we tend to do over there). Also, you're not having to chase your conversation down the page. #openthread

@colorebel: Huh, turns out I've been doing the granny knot too. But, I've been doing a double knot sort of thing - First, when you bring the laces together in the first half of the knot, give them an extra wrap, so they wrap twice around each other, instead of just once. Then, on the second half of the knot, wrap

@JibbyJam: I knew two brothers growing up who got 2 hours of 'screen' time per day. That was either games or tv, and could be extended for family activities or special occasions. Besides that, they either had to be doing something away from a screen.

What I'd do with that is have a double lock system - A keyed door knob, and a knock-lock. That way, you need the physical key and the knock key to get in (and your neighbors can't just listen in and then steal all your stuff). #electronics

@moe52: Think about it - what would you rather eat - some deliciously roasted pig, or some chicken that's been sitting in a warmer for the last 2 hours. #marriage

@jeffk: She actually is %100 on board - she doesn't like the idea of renting some stupid hall, and then paying someone for overpriced chicken. We'd rather have food and entertainment people want. #marriage

@GitEmSteveDave: #RosaRocks: As a non football watcher, I really wouldn't mind at all. In fact, I'd probably like having an excuse to miss stupid football parties. #marriage

So, I've been playing around with this idea for an inexpensive wedding - Have a small wedding somewhere outdoors, and then have a larger potluck/pig roast reception that everyone can come to. People can bring beer or food bits, and we provide the pig and other protein bits, and wedding pie (we're pie sort of folks).

I have a 1998 Subaru Outback, with just the tape player/radio as sound options. I was wondering if anyone knew how much I would expect to pay for a wired solution where I could play my ipod into the sound system, either through the dock or the headphone jack. I'm not looking for a tape deck or radio transmitter, as I

@Buster Friendly: Actually a tempting idea - I have a convection/toaster oven, so I could turn on the convection setting, on some low temperature, open the door, and hang the socks in front of it. Of course, the first five times I did this I'd be standing by with a fire extinguisher in hand, but it's a tempting idea

@battra92: I've actually used mine to broil steaks and such. It's a ~$50 Black and Decker model, and works amazingly well. Of course, the alternative is the in-wall oven which is ~50 years old and quite finicky, so maybe it's just me.

My girlfriend and I use our toaster/convection oven all the time. It's great for heating up leftovers, or smaller dishes that we don't want to use our regular oven for. A lot of leftovers taste much better out of the small oven because they're heated more evenly.

@superaaron: I actually just use the quick launch bar that comes with windows. Yeah, it's a pain to set up the first time, but it's unobtrusive and gets the job done.

@hjustin93: I agree 100%. Every computer I setup for work or for my friends gets Google as the homepage, just because of its simplicity.

@vlatro: Quick question - the bacon is not cooked before grinding, right? Sounds delicious, can't wait to try.
