Worth it.
Worth it.
Hey, everyone has different tastes. Whatever they like or dislike, they always give valid reasons for their decisions. I may not always like a movie they do or dislike one they hate (though my tastes generally match up with Jay and Mike’s) but they always make a good argument for their position. Also, the dig at Joss…
Nice on all of that. hehe
I was about to post the same thing. She is a female Kevin James. That’s why i’m not watching Ghostbusters or Pixels.
If you want to see Melissa McCarthy in a non-comedic role, try St. Vincent. I think she did a great job in that one. Her character has a lot more to her than the slapstick stuff she’s known for.
I liked her in Bridesmaids, but then she just went on to continuously play variations of the same obnoxious and simple character in every movie.
I dislike her as well... but at least they are not using sexy attire for the new ghost buster costumes can you imagine........ ooooooooooooouuughoh why did I think about that.
No she just isn’t that funny. Mike and Molly jumped the shark the moment she jumped out of the window and none of her movies look at all appealing to me.
she’s overrated..but can be funny once in a while
That was just my personal response, but when I said it, the two people I saw it with agreed with me.
Try Spy. The only bit that started out looking like it might be a fat joke ended up a character bit about Jude Law’s character, and then it had a payoff later in the movie.
Am I the only person...
I hadn’t seen much of her before Spy, but she actually really impressed me with her performance in that. (Okay, the whole movie impressed me. It was Leslie Nielsen level funny with Kevin Smith level use of creative cussing.)
She’s funny the first time you see her in something, then you see her in something else and realize she’s a one trick pony. “Fatty fall down go boom” is easy, cheap and demeaning. Humor based on nasty stereotypes doesn’t magically become “empowering” just because a woman is doing it.
I feel like she’s just been typecast that way. And you better believe that’s what they brought her on board Ghost Busters for.
Am I the only person who finds Miss Mcarthy painfully unfunny?
If anyone needs evidence of Melissa McCarthy’s range, they should see The Nines. It’s literally one of my favorite movies, and it’s a weird surreal indie sci-fi story about dimensional beings that create universes and sometimes forget that they are immortal and accidentally just become characters in the universe they…
She's good as a costar, but not as the main character. Bridesmaids was a great example, too bad Hollywood has other ideas from the rest of humanity.
no, she’s not very funny, you’re not alone
Thank God I am not a lone voice here! Shockingly unfunny she be. Shockingly.
