Your understanding is incorrect. This is Amazon refusing to make the app, not Apple rejecting it. There is no evidence that Apple is not allowing Amazon to make apps for the Apple TV. Amazon is doing the same thing to Google.

Never miss an opportunity to bash Apple now, do you? You realize this was written in 2009 at the height of the recession. This was before iPhones had really taken off and while Apple was doing alright, they didn’t have the cash they do now.
