The Last Kingdom (and the following books) by Bernard Cornwell. I've always been a huge fan of his books but I have an unreasonable bias against books written in the first person for some reason. However I read this book and fell in love. It's definitely my favorite of his many many amazing books.

What a ridiculous statement. When I first saw the movie (and later read the book) my first comment was that she didn't kill off enough people. The casualties weren't high enough and to kill both sides of a married couple was a cop-out.

Yea because only good writing sells.

I felt the same way. Also, she needs to learn when you're telling a story it's not a checks and balances like that. And it actually would have been more heartbreaking to have either Remus or Tonks die, instead of both. It was a blessing that they both died. So it was a copout.

I grew up in Montana. People most often asked me if people actually lived here. Then they assumed we all lived in mountain huts or cattle ranches. Not that that is completely wrong, but there were pockets of people there...they are just really really spread out. :P

I'm so looking forward to The Kingsman. However, I wish they wouldn't make it a save the world moment. The biggest problems in the world are not the big problems; they are the little ones that add up to big problems. Still, looks like a fun film.

Damnit I already paid for it! I wonder what their return policy is.

I recently read a story (it may have been on here) about a kid who made a few hundred thousand dollars on penny stocks in very risky trades. He admitted that he got lucky but the article had details, interviews, and everything. As soon as I read this story on Buzzfeed I didn't believe it. Glad to see I was right.

Oh yea...shoot me down with buzzwords instead of actually refuting my point. I'm an Apple Tech...I'd be out of job if Apple were perfect and I vocally complain about many of their policies and design decisions. The new Mac Mini for instance was like a slap in the face from Apple.

And yet the preponderance of evidence is to the contrary. The idea that Apple is propped up by fanboys is ridiculous and easy to disprove. As an Apple technician, I'm very aware of their flaws and more vocal about them than most. Not honoring their warranty is not one of their flaws.

I don't understand why they don't do a cost benefit analysis and see that they are spending more attempting to combat piracy than piracy will ever cost them. They are operating under the assumption that one pirated copy equals a lost sale which is not true. Does it just look better to shareholders and boards if they

Did anyone else think Firefly when they read that headline?

For some reason I don't believe you. Apple has highest customer satisfaction for a reason and they are great about honoring their warranty. I worked as a technician for an Apple Specialist for years and when things fell outside the warranty I can't tell you how many times Apple made exceptions and covered it. Most of

Apple's commission is 30%.

I really want them to keep the Guardians of the Galaxy separate from The Avengers for as long as possible. The problem with most universes is that everything centers around the hero and world (or universe) changes are so focused on them. I like the idea that multiple stories can be going on and they aren't less

I actually enjoyed the movie Jumper. It wasn't great, but it was decent.

They spend more money attempting to combat piracy than they have ever proved to have lost from piracy. There have been studies that show that pirates are their best customers. There has been zero evidence that 1 download equals one lost sale and massive evidence to the contrary. Yet they keep touting that line. Also

I was about to say, The Director's Cut of Kingdom of Heaven is one of the best epic movies I've seen. In spite of Orlando Bloom. If they had cast a better main character it might top Gladiator.

The trailer looked exciting but I'm hoping this isn't another "hacking is magic" movie where hackers can do anything. I'm not saying I want a realistic hacking movie which might be a little boring, but a it seems like hackers in movies never suffer from limitations of the real world. This makes them as realistic as

Eva Green doesn't do the walk of shame. She walks and other people are ashamed that they are not Eva Green...
