When did you buy it? For almost a year now Sonos has been doing a free bridge with the purchase of any speaker so if you paid for the bridge someone ripped you off. Also, it's not useless, as it boosts the Sonos mesh network and still provides that extra reliability.

I set up Sonos as a tech for years and this is something a lot of people will be interested in. Still, it's probably worthwhile to use the bridge for reliability. Wireless is finicky enough as it is.
