Well sure, but that's assuming that the machine works forever and there's not limited uses. In the situation from the video, we know none of that. Why not have an insurance policy? A vault of pure gold bars? Something to better humanity.

I definitely consider that line of reasoning valid and perfectly worth pursuing. If it was me though, on the off chance that the catch is the same regardless of what you choose to create, I would go for something big. I realize it's risky but I'd definitely take the risk.
But if there is a catch, would you want to suffer it for just an ice cream cone? Seems a small reward for the risk of whatever the catch would be. I mean, sure, you could assume that the catch is proportional to the size of whatever you get, but there is no evidence to suggest that. :P
Is it just me or is space exploration getting exciting again? New companies, new space agencies, new vehicles...bring it on!
This is why small-minded individuals (basically everyone) should never be given great power. He just had a device that could make matter! And he orders an ice cream cone. He should have asked for money. That would have gotten him probably almost everything he could have desired. Or you know...depending on the power of…
I remember reading from an insider about early on in SpaceX's days how they were one rocket failure away from going out of business. I'm glad those days are behind it and they can learn things from these tests.
What's wrong with it? Apple is very good at creating warranty extensions for things that fail, including the GPUs in the 2010 and 2007 Macbook Pros.
True; it's a possibility. It could be part of the protocol to check for that though. Look for dead, lifeless planets.
I agree completely. As far as studios go they are very similar. They've both had strings of hits where even their fails still do decently well. Audience confidence is high and at this point, both studios create excitement with whatever projects they come out with. They both transcend genres by taking whatever source…
Yea I saw this earlier. I definitely want to see more of this. Robots terraforming planets...the visuals are stunning and as I love stories that are told with dialogue.
Why are there not more minority cops, especially in neighborhoods where they are the majority? I grew up in a basically all white community in Montana, so I don't expect it there, but why in neighborhoods where more than 50% are non-white do we see such a large white police force?
You know what's definitely not making people sick? Burning oil, coal, and all the other ways we get energy. It's definitely not ruining the habitat for animals and people alike either or accelerating climate change.
Whoa I already have all the DVDs and HD digital copies of the Stargate Series (as well as not owning a Blu-ray player), but that's an awesome deal.
Hmmmm so should I watch it? Without the comparisons to the original movie, does this movie work as a stand-alone film?
A lot of the zombies are shown to have died and then come back by a virus. So no necromancy and a virus that reanimates them.
Lincoln County is where I grew up. That's ridiculous.
I feel like we hear this every year (and pretty much constantly in between as well). Supply problems! Delays! Limited supply. It's heard constantly right up until launch. They're almost always overblown. Apple, and Tim Cook in particular, has always been a master of the supply chain. They're planning on selling 10s of…
This is fantastic. I wouldn't say they look like snowspeeders though...I'd say they look like F-16's flying over Greenland!
The level of detail on that thing was great.
It was my understanding that devices that can support the Play Store has reduced a lot of the headaches of fragmentation. It's still there, but to a much lesser degree than these charts show.
