Seriously, what the fuck Zhang Yimou?
Has there ever been a turn as severe as his, from arthouse darling, who made thoughtful, provocative movies that his own government tried to shut down, to this kind of commercialized action crap?
I mean, I know you gotta pay the bills, but this looks like he's been replaced by a

I preferred Joe Bob's Movie Channel show, Drive-In Theater, that predated Monster Vision.
He could show movies uncut and commercial free.
I'm pretty sure that show was the first time I saw Dario Argento's Opera, John Woo's The Killer, Doris Wishman's Deadly Weapons, and the like.

I saw Blair Witch on opening weekend and was pretty cold about it other than knowing it was some little indie that garnered huge buzz and had a big marketing push over it supposedly being real.

I had no idea Astin was still alive, but if his masterful Gomez performance says anything about him, I bet he will go to his grave devilishly grinning.

It's nice to see Shelly Duvall getting work.
She plays a very convincing preteen Dungeon Master.

I will probably watch this with my mother.

I see tremendous value in conceptual acting.
Nutso performances like Cage can give, often elevate what would otherwise be middling roles or downright dreck.
You look at stuff like Deadfall, Vampires Kiss, Kiss of Death, Peggy Sue Got Married, etc, and everything around him is pretty middling to awful, but he's at least

Let me guess, it's another one of those cliched serial killer works that envisions them killing out of some weird obsession and not, as they do in the real world, out of violent sexual kink.

1-800-COCAINE, I believe, is also a certain Dr. Rockso's phone number.

While I'm not going to judge Ray as a host until I see it, I do take issue with his touting how much of a MSTie he is.
I've heard him make a few blunders in interviews.
On Dana Gould's podcast, for instance, he emphatically said that Mitchell came from the last Comedy Central season.
That is something that is just so

I got the version that comes with a live DVD, which was only a few dollars difference from the normal version, and I'm sure will be worth it.

My first impressions aren't great.
It's not a problem with the songs.
The mix of this record is just off, the low end is dialed down and lacks that extra punch.
The mixes on When Will I Return and Glowing Man are good, the former especially when the closing groove kicks in, and I wish the rest of the record was mixed

Yeah, I agree with this.
Vanessa goes from goddamn, pistol packin', lone wolf, Dracula assassin to Fuck-It-I'm-A-Bride-Of-Darkness in one scene and a few syrupy words.

I don't think Dorian's bit was entirely petulant.
His withering takedown of Lily's whole scheme, his having seen this sort of hollow revolt time and time again, was perfectly in line with the character.
Probably the best bit for Dorian this whole season.
And, of course, the fact that he would betray her like he did once

I'm bummed with the whole Frankenstein/Hyde and Lily/Dorian shenanigans this season.
All of their scenes are a rinse and repeat of the same dynamics.
And, sorry to the actor, but the guy playing Hyde is just not that good.

I'm amazed that the season has so few episodes left.

This show sounds great.

Preminger was the kind of director/actor who probably acknowledged phonieness and what amounts to an exposition/character dump of the scene once they get to the apartment.
He was naturally tuned to the offbeat, so he made it work with some elegant blocking and having the actors play it laissez faire.
Crawford and Fonda

There should be a Coachella for Bruce Willis, Chris Gaines, the Bacon Brothers, 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts, whateverthehell that Keanu Reeves band was called, etc.

I mean, there are artists who have a mature-and-cartoonish style, like Sam Keith, Kelly Jones, and the like.
But this art looks like teen appeal, jokey stuff.
