She has been doing some pretty awesome work with her foundation to promote better representation of women and young girls in the media. Thanks for this comment, as it reminded me that I've been meaning to read more about her work! Here is their "About Us" page. Reading it has me falling a little bit in love with her.

My schools method was to get some lady who used to have sex a lot come and yell a hundred different STDs at us.

This may seem like a silly question, but why is abstinence-only allowed to be taught as "sex-ed"?

How does the joke go? The only different between Alberta and Texas is that Alberta thinks it's part of the US?

Wow, you got wooden dicks? We got a banana!

One subtle thing that occurred to me recently about Obama's presidency is that he is (at least partially) the product of a single-parent childhood. This may seem like a minor barrier to cross in comparison to his race, but as the only child of a single mother, to me it seems like an important detail. I never really

Malignment of single-parent families/kids from school authorities..what wonderful human beings! For Chrissakes, there's no such thing as easy circumstances leading up to being a single parent (in my case, my mother being widowed when I was 10). I'll let someone else tear into the medieval thinking that the Mom and

"Let's leave the science to the school and the values to the parents."

Ugh, yuck. I didn't know this shit still happened in Canada. Years ago when I was in CALM (Career and Life Management) they had, basically, a sex book that gave us all kind of info on birth control options, pregnancy options, you name it. The book came with a condom.

You care deeply about oppression. I can tell.

That's unfortunate. Support for Palestine is the first smart thing I've heard from Rihanna but, apparently, that's the line she's unwilling to cross.

Did you look at the google streetview of that gas station? It didn't look like a bad neighborhood to me, unless what you're really trying to say is something a bit more dog-whistle-ish.

I think it's more we don't understand the circumstances in which it happened, and so they're given the benefit of the doubt until more details are released (like the Harris case happening in Georgia).

Seriously? Where do/did you see anyone saying this about children left unattended in hot cars?

I was trying to use small words that Janet Snakehole would understand. If she can't grasp the concept that parents honestly, mistakenly leave infants in the car sometimes, due to stress, etc., then she might not understand the word "oversight."

Oh, you know, by stating the obvious, I'd imagine.

I think the comments are representative of the kind of fucking bullshit people want to say in real life, though (and often are representative of shit people say in real life).
