True, which is why I said very very close to zero.

You’re describing a limitation of an ICE not a dyno. Dynos work just fine from 0 RPM or at least very very close to it, but they start from a rolling start because A) you test a car in a 1:1 gear (or as close as you can get to 1:1) which is usually third or fourth gear and B) a gas engine can’t be tested from 0 RPM.

I don’t know if I completely agree. In fact, saying someone isn’t a car enthusiast because they don’t like cars for the same reason as you is exactly the kind of thing I’m talking about. You’re just assuming that the reason you like cars is the “correct” reason.

This is basically what I just commented. The air of superiority that a lot of car people have hanging over every word they say is horrible. You can’t just geek out about the technology without these people trying to assert that X is better than Y even if its irrelevant to the conversation.

It seems being a car enthusiast causes a lot of people to develop a superiority complex that makes them just insufferable. I love cars and I love talking about cars, but it seems like there are a boatload of people that consider themselves enthusiasts that aren’t interested in anything more than demonstrating that

It looks like that’s something they’re testing, but it’s not installed on the vast majority of pictures. I’m skeptical it ends up on the car on race day.

I didn’t get the impression any of that happened. They were compensated for the car at a value that was spot on compared to other R8s with similar miles. The only reason it was an issue was because they owed more than what they were being compensated. Hell if you look at what they claimed they should have gotten for

If dangling carrots is the only way you can keep employees, there’s something wrong with the way you’re doing business.

Very true, BUT in a state with such a high cost of living your base pay is pretty damn important. It doesn’t matter how much any employer matches your 401k if you can’t afford food after you pay your rent.

Can we just agree you’re both dolts?

My best memory of Oshkosh was listening to them make fun of my uncle over the radio for missing the dot by a mile. He was flying a 727 at work, but we were flying into Oshkosh in my grandpa’s bonanza. I guess he was used to being quite a bit higher off the ground when he touched down so he was just cruising about 10

Function is beautiful.

Am from Texas. Want to be mad. Can’t. Take your damn star.

I’ve developed emotional connections to cars I’ve never driven though so it can’t be that by itself.

That was less of an “Insurance won’t cover me” issue and more of a “What do you mean my car depreciated since I bought it” type thing. He was arguing that insurance should have been paying him based on what he paid for the car despite the fact that it was A) a year older than when he bought it B) had more miles on it

You don’t have to wait 20 years for that.

Nope. Nor do I drive a Lexus. I just talk to lots of people that aren’t all-knowing car guys.

Happens all the time too. Last time I went car shopping at a dealer, I showed up preapproved for 18k and after test driving the car we came to look at, the salesman started just bringing cars around for us to test drive. The cheapest one he brought around was 33k. We left.

Where were you an hour ago?!

So you want an interesting car, just not like this one because it’s not the right kind of interesting. Different is ok, just as long as it’s not different like this. No you’re definitely reinforcing my point.
