Yes... is that a serious question? "Pace of play" is a common term in both baseball and golf, basketball has a statistic called "pace factor" (and it's very common to hear that certain teams "play at a fast pace"), and in football, plenty of people refer to Oregon as having a "fast-paced offense". In tennis people

Pace? That's a pretty normal sports word.

Oh come on - this isn't some little psychopath torturing animals to watch them suffer, this is a young kid sad and upset about his pet being killed. 7 year olds generally wouldn't fully understand that the dog was just doing what dogs do, especially in such an emotional situation for a young child.

I remember that case - truly awful. The full story is even worse than the excerpt you posted - I'd encourage everyone to follow that Wikipedia link. Of course, as usual, no indictments.

It's incredibly saddening. In some ways I almost hate calling them "tragedies" - it seems to minimize the culpability of the cops involved. This isn't a kid dying of cancer, this is an Outrage.

He could be Satan's own son, but that's not relevant to the issue at hand. He was shot down by cops who, it certainly appears in the video, gave no warning. They then lied about it in the police report, probably because they knew they screwed up.

I agree with you. That's a case where the guy was doing literally NOTHING wrong. Add to that the reports about how his girlfriend was treated after his murder (because that's what it was in my opinion) and it's infuriating. The Garner and Rice cases I think are really, really bad too - the cop in the Garner case

Good for him. Also really glad to see him calling some more attention to the Crawford story, which seems to have gotten a bit lost in the mix with all the other tragedies that occurred over the past several months.

Wait until she finds out that TCU wasn't even the highest ranked Christian school - that'll really make her head spin.

A legal smackdown? For what? Unless she has some clause in her contract prohibiting her from commenting on Nike for all eternity (and not just a non-disparagement clause), this is decidedly not actionable.

Someone in a position of official authority killed the victim here? I must have missed that part.

Tone deaf or not, telling your allies that they must only listen to you and people like you, and that their opinions and voices do not matter is not a productive way to move forward. Like it or not, you need allies in your fight, and attitudes like this make it much easier for white people who would sympathize to say

Fantastic article.

Honest question - why is the video the Spanish language feed? I'm assuming it has something to do with what is made available for embedding and/or some kind of media rights thing - I'm genuinely curious.
