a car that explodes when the window is smashed in? what an efficient way to turn an otherwise potentially mild accident into full blown catastrophe! hell of a security system.

the general consensus around here is that most American made vehicles are produced to be more affordable at the expense of durability. they definitely don't have the same batting average of quality / durability that certain models from other manufacturers have.

they really go out of their way to be cartoonishly evil…

stage collapse and lighting rig failures, but I don't think they occur that frequently?

yeah, I suspect part of it is acknowledging that it's normal and healthy to feel upset. about things, even if it's not objectively worse or what have you. not always easy to do, though.

tasteful, meaningful shred is hard to come by though. there's a reason it's so often derided.

that's why they're invited?

I went to one day of TURF last year to see Ween. had a great time.

thanks. it's kinda exhausting, while also being really boring.

I won't be remotely surprised if I take a glance back and find most of his stuff to be not to my taste, but I figured I might as well give it a shot, as I've never even remotely understood any of the buzz or relative acclaim he's received over the years.

I'm more surprised that they didn't ask more staff members to contribute.

I was gonna suggest something like Husker Du's Reoccurring Dreams, since the whole song feels like this hallucinatory guitar solo-esque wash of noise… but I can't really tell where it starts and stops, so I'm not sure if it qualifies as a solo per se.

just about everything I've ever heard Mick Ronson play is a revelation. impeccable sense of taste.

it's sometimes easy to forget how hard Billy Corgan could shred, but goddamn if Geek USA isn't one of the prime examples of this.

Funkadelic — Maggot Brain.

god, that episode is just bottled hilarity.

yeah, but from what little I can vaguely recall from the say, seasons 6 and 7… which was about where I think I fell off that train… the quality control was very hit or miss.

the issue is that it fucks with your amygdala - - the part of your brain involved with memory and emotion - - that it makes it exceedingly difficult to perceive hopeful potential outcomes, let alone remember happy past experiences. it all seems like a bleak haze.

thanks for the list. been going through a bad patch lately, and I've gotten so used to it that I don't even register the occasional idle suicidal thought as worthy of seeking help. it's all become so blasé.

downside being that the library tracks circulation stats and decides what stays (or gets purchased in the future) based on checkouts.
