if I could get bourbon for a reasonable (read: non-monopolistically enforced price) here in Ontario, that would be nice. but the LCBO will never die.

can't say I have, but I'll try to remember to look that up

I did the graveyard shift / overnights at a community radio station on campus during my freshman year. I never had the discipline to actively plan stuff extensively, and more used it as an excuse to dig through the ~12000 records and ~25000 CDs on hand, kinda making it up as I went along.

that's awesome. I think differences can be a really cool way of bonding with others by virtue of contrast and difference of perspectives.

maybe it's a tad absurd to look at what can be a nuanced issue in absolutes, but I have a lot of respect for Tom Waits' position. he refuses to license his music for anything commercial (and I think he won a massive settlement against BMW specifically for trying to squeeze past a soundalike version when he refused).

the review was extremely light on details, to the point that it reads more like a softball press release :/

is Dogma good? I think I've only seen maybe twenty minutes of it.

I've known people to just lean out the back door and grill anyway…

if I could get the local bbq joint to sell their sauce a la carte or bottled, I would likely just drink it. it's so damn good.

I love the caption on the cake :) nice work!

I think I need to perfect a brownie or cookie skills before I try anything more advanced :)

I repressed or completely ignored the finale arc of Battlestar Galactica, gave up on Lost shortly after the third season, iirc, and have never heard of the last one?

tbh, I haven't seen any of those, let alone heard much / anything about them. I'm way behind the times though.

if I were to give his stuff a spin, where would I start? any particular album stand out?

can't help but imagine that it's like those, uhh… what were they called… those orange things with the viewfinder where you'd slot in the microfiche-like slides, and you'd pull the lever to cycle through the options?

I don't think you become a billionaire in ANY country without being very calculated and at the very least comfortable with amassing far more wealth than any single person (or conceivably small group of people) could possibly ever need.

I knew someone would remember the name! thanks :)

I guess it all depends on what you use it for?

do we have to EMBED the tweet? I guess there's some kind of style guide or convention wrt sourcing your material, but why can't we just screen cap it and call it a day?
