I remember dismissing the threats of mass deportation during the campaign by arrogantly saying: it would cost way too much money to imprison all undocumented immigrants and deport them legally under international law. (I can’t remember all of the specifics but you have to contact their country’s consulate, and I think

Hold up, isn’t it against international law to just up and deport an undocumented immigrant (or any non-citizen) to a country that isn’t where they’re domiciled? I thought you had to contact a consulate from their country? And also (but especially) if that country is a war zone?
?!?

Check out the people on Facebook supporting him and bashing CPAC/”liberal media.” It’s abhorrent.

Right? You should(n’t) check out Milo’s fb statement about being dropped and all of the supportive comments. It’s disgusting.

Also this is in reference to something that aired on FOX NEWS

Did...someone just refer to Fox News as the “left”? I’d want to assume this is a troll, but I grew up in Trump country where people were a little too enthusiastic about the Tea Party movement circa 2010-ish. These people are real and terrifying.

These are good points! And it has me thinking about other instances of this. Should we still celebrate the founding fathers when we talk about democracy, even though the U.S. began as (and is still tainted with remnants of) a democracy for white men built on the back of slaves? I don’t know.

Yeah. :/ I think I agree with cew-smoke but I definitely see your point. I can only think about this from my perspective as a woman. It makes me think of how I admire the ideas of the founding fathers and their radical (for that time) idea of government. However, back then, I would’ve been considered nothing more than

All I’m hearing is “Allowing these ladyfolk [and foreign workers] in the workforce increases the competition for the good jobs and may mean men have to pay for an education beyond high school and actually work hard to land said good job. Now we can’t have that.”

I’m kinda late to the game but I want to chip in!

Yep. Some people are talking about the election like it was a friggin football game.

I’ve been feeling feelz lately, but I don’t know how to best write my thoughts down.

Growing up in Trump country, it seems like many Trump supporters aren’t necessarily enthusiastic about Trump himself - they’re ultimately Pence supporters. While I do think we need to continuously call out the ridiculous and dangerous

Yeah, but then we have Pence and his creepy-for-Christ Evangelical army calling the shots. Honestly, I think most Trump voters preferred Pence. So I can’t say it would be much better :/

Interesting! I see why, theoretically, this is a necessary rule, but if this becomes a common rule to cite in these situations, I think we’re in trouble.

Ugh.

Confession: I had to Google impugn. It means questioning the validity/truth of a statement.

I feel you. It’s hard having a conversation with my mother, as she still believes Obama was born in Kenya. My dad unfriended me on Facebook and hasn’t talked to me since the election. Note that I’m a moderate independent who voted for Hillary, and my entire family (save for one aunt) are very very conservative - like,

THIS

Are you me? My dad hasn’t talked to me since the election!

Also can we not forget the “suicide caucus” of blowhard Republicans that were responsible for us almost defaulting on loan payments and resulted in our credit rating going down slightly? JFC, these people are so..just, evil.
