I’ll agree the timing seems a bit weird but I think it all ties into how secretive the jedi were even when they were all still alive. Part of their power was derived from their mystery so they liked to keep it that way.

Reading through the comments and my own experiences is that there is a definite scale of Return on Investment with goods. Not sure about Home Depot, but Lowes has a great selection of threaded pipe so you should be able to find any size you want/need they also have unpainted pipe since the black iron is a little ‘greasy’ and they also ruined it by putting white lettering all over it.
