Ok, my DC knowledge is limited, but the creatures look a lot like the The Reach/Beetles from Young Justice. After watching BvS for the first (last) time last night, everyone better be kissing Gal Godot’s sandals for carrying this franchise this far.
Discovery is a TV show that has proved itself to be deeply flawed. It just doesn’t feel like Star Trek
It looked just wrong - and the scene and the very conception of it was terrible - gratuitous and over-the-top fan-servicey
er, no
none of the subtlety of the first one nor tight-space suspense - looks like a Transformers version - no thank you
If you put latex on a Klingon and don’t have an actor as good as Christopher Lloyd, David Warner or Christopher Plummer it just seems stupid ... and these new Klingons are the dumbest yet ... the nuTrek crap and now this Kurtzman slop needs to go
“viewing it through the lens of 35 years of narrative development” ... ahem, you take in a work of art on its own merits - just watch the fricken movie as a self-contained thing
omg I hate these two people
Yeah, what audiences want out of a movie has changed drastically since Blade Runner was made. Look at horror movies from the ‘70s and early-mid ‘80s versus horror movies in the ‘90s. Or even action films: No way the original Vanishing Point would have been made into a wide release film by the time the TV movie remake…

I think this is another example of a basic theme running through io9 for a while now — that its staff members are openly contemptuous of the very topic they are nominally covering, and the very audience they are nominally serving.
I think the real story is that io9, a geek culture site, hired people who hadn’t seen Blade Runner. I’m pretty sure you get your geek card revoked for that. ;)
yikes you like all the things that are wrong with Trek these days ... the show sucks - looks pretty - but it’s bad
No. It looks slightly less awful.
Fur coats for everyone! And dig that phallic sword hilt in the Cersei Jaime shot.
I’m guessing that’s not Sheena Easton’s sugar wall that’s cracking apart
spacetime right next to philosophy nails it
and South Park already did it
Oh, not this again. The Next Generation doesn’t have its own theme music. Its theme is a mashup of the fanfare to Alexander Courage’s TOS theme and Jerry Goldsmith’s theme for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, also used in Goldsmith’s later Trek movie scores (The Final Frontier and the last three TNG movies). I’m…
