it can fight to the death with Alpacapede

Now playing

Charlie X, Gary,Harry Mudd, Tremaine, Khan again, or the hippie from the parallel universe - who is the villain Benedict Cumberbatch plays? Meh. This sums up my feelings on the new Abrams Star Trek [click on the clever little vid]

if there are aliens who want us to know they're there they'll just land and wait for the welcoming committee

SyFy has adopted the 99cent Store business model and high-end is obviated out of the formula ... the pilot for BSG Blood & Chrome is finally out (as an online "series" - really the pilot ep chopped up) and it is terrific but, alas, SyFy doesn't sell Rolex

this is news? CSI uses blue, CSI Miami uses yellow

Terrible film - ill-conceived from the start ... genius (and hilarious) spoof is here: http://bbot.org/badtranscript-prometheus.html

visible light is only one aspect of an object's characteristics ... while interesting, this "invisibility" capability will have little application as sensors being deployed check for infrared (temperature), motion, chemical (breath or exhaust), sonic, air-turbulence, and so on ... so what if you're effectively

zombies are slow and dumb ... fast zombies suck as do the movies they're in

when gaming, you're active - fight/flight is engaged - it is a visceral experience ... watching a film is meant to be passive and introspective

48fps is not going to catch on, as I explained to Peter and weta ... the 24fps creates a diffusion and a bit of a blur which provokes the mind to regard what it is seeing as a bit surreal and allows for a more dreamlike viewing experience ... 48fps is so realistic that it keeps the fight/flight response active -

he's governed much like a pro-corporate technocrat ... I would love him to embrace real progressive reforms and be bold, but I'm not counting on it

fringe is a B show to be sure ... tried in each season to get into it but could never last more than 2 or 3 eps in a row or one here and there ... this season same thing, they're losing me again - so much set-up before anything actually happens and they never get to the point ... the show doesn't blow but it blows

what they need to kill first on this show is plotlines - WAAAAAY too many ... who cares about the creatures outside? ... who cares about Constance's (it IS still Constance) backstory as a floozy? ... who cares about the earnest psychiatrist? ... who cares about the ambitious priest? ... who cares about Lesbo Lana

No reason they can't dual-track and do an X4 film also ... some new mutant (or the Phoenix) could bring them back from the dead - the dead don't stay dead in comics nor movies

yea! Singer got it absolutely right with his X-Men ... he set the sleek look, cast it perfectly and will do a great job ... no reason there can't be an X4 too, which picks up with Havok looking for his brother (Cyclops) at the lake and Phoenix rises and restores him and Prof. X and they finally fight the Sentinals

Daniel Day Lewis doing his own thing again because he is a seeerious AACCCTTTTTTOOOOOOORRRR

Razzies galore for Prometheus: Worst Picture, Worst Script, Worst Sequel/Prequel ...

what a weak year - pathetic list of candidates due to the terrible output ... and Inglorious Basterds was pretty terrible - great revenge setup he just abandoned and then veered into ridiculous camp (all that effort to get the German right, then they shift into lampooning Italian accents) - biggest misfire of

TNG marks the absolute nadir of production design, make-up and costume design for the Trek franchise - I hated it with a passion then and it is only fodder for parody now ... the worst has to be the quilted oven mitts for tunics for the Romulans (funny story: I was in that "Mad Max" episode as one of the MMs and went

Bone claws are dumb. As I recall the comics, Logan had a mutant healing power and didn't age - the adamantium was added, as were the claws. Hugh Jackman is the only reason I like Wolverine at all - hated that character in the comics. What would have been far more interesting was to set the story in his past in Japan.
