Ostensibly the Auction House helps people who want to play more casually and rewards players who play intently. You're going to have more loot than you know what to do with or can really use in this game if you play it intently, so why not let that gear go to other players instead of being sold as vendor trash?

It'd be nice to be able to swap components on a cell phone, but it won't be like that. If it is, it will be slow, expensive, and heavy.

My little brother played the AH's and ended up making over $600 from the RMAH. It took him lots of time. I did not have the time. Sure I could just try harder (read: play more), but I just don't have the time. I shouldn't have to play an auction house economy game in order to play Diablo 3, but it became necessary to,

They could have made the game harder than D2 without requiring you to use the auction houses. They chose not to.

Not really. They realized the harm it was doing to their rep and that it might affect future/console sales numbers. Besides from what I understand it was becoming ridiculous. With no gold sinks in the game, all prices were rising to crazy extents, so much so that new players were seeing the prices of gear and just

They admitted outright that they tuned the loot drop rate while taking into account existence of the auction houses. Why else but for the money would they want to keep good loot rare across the world? They gain nothing else from it.

Here's the problem: imagine that you killed Handsome Jack 4 times, playing through the entire game 4 times, and you never once got anything better than a purple item, and most of those purples were for classes other than yours, and the few you did get for your own class were classed at 4-5 levels below your current

Your item hunt was unnecessarily difficult and grindy because of the mere existence of the AH. D2 was grindy, but you still got decent gear for your level as loot drops. That did not happen in D3.

Excessive farming was only necessary in D3 because of the existence of the AH. In D1 and D2, farming was not necessary to get legendaries. In D3, it was, and even then legendaries are extraordinarily rare. This was quite clearly stated by a Blizz developer, that the loot drop rates are set so low so as to not flood

One of the purposes of the always-online DRM was to prevent duping of items so protect the sanctity of the AH. This was quite clear from the start. The always-online requirement was there only to allow the AHs to exist, and the AHs affected the core gameplay mechanics (loot drops). Therefore, the root cause of the

You missed the part where they're going to fix the loot drop rates so you actually get decent gear for your level and character. At launch, I played through the game multiple times, and I never once found a truly good piece of gear for my character at his/her current level. I had hand-me-downs from friends, I bought

Yes, they got a cut of every transaction through the RMAH.

I have nothing negative to say, but I also have nothing positive to say. This change is long overdue, and in fact too late for me. I gave up after the first couple months because it became clear that the game was actively designed in order to maximize traffic (and thus profit for Blizz) through the AHs, to the vast

The RMAH by itself was an excellent idea, a great way to protect players from scammers. However, the issue is that they tuned loot drops based on the existence of the RMAH, and made game design choices in order to maximize traffic through the AHs (gold and RM). Rather than being a decent place to trade gear for gold

The thing is, to me, it doesn't matter. They tuned drop rates, either at initial design or based on AH stock, in order to maximize traffic (and thus profit for them) through the AH. They increased the grind so they could make money, affecting millions of individual players. I didn't have much time to play (I did make

When we initially designed and implemented the auction houses, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades.

Just because they put emphasis on heat management does not mean that the console will be able to handle more heat properly.

However I personally am not interested in kissing other men.

Some people would be uncomfortable doing an achievement that required them to perform heterosexual acts. Is that intolerance?
