Not to hate on apple... but how is it any different than making an app drawer for iOS? If the end result is putting all the other apps you don't want somewhere else and only seeing what you want on the homescreen?

Do the upgrade, either a free phone or a subsidized phone. Then switch back to old phone, and sell the new phone once it's cleared (should happen when you switch to old phone). Since you keep using the old phone, the contract isn't broken so there is nothing to hold against the "new" phone.

I take a month long vacation fairly often without a problem. I get a little over 5 weeks vacation time each year, so I either take a few week long ones, or one big one. I work in the US.

sure textnow works like google voice, but you can earn free minutes... might not need it for US and the countries for free service, but when making calls to one that aren't free. Textnow is better than google voice since you don't have to pay all the time.

I thought Textnow would make the list... It's a good google voice replacement. Lets you call/text real numbers. no need to worry if other person has app installed

TextNow for me, it's a combination of google voice+whatapp. Makes calls/text to real phones as well as to other app users

facebook has privacy? :D nah, I just use a "minor" account, since kids under 18 have extra privacy settings. Their "everyone" is really just "friends of friends" instead of "everyone". Not much less private but hey if you don't mind everyone in school knowing something, but don't want random people on the street…

why should it need an update? PC software until the past few years have normally been sold as "complete" and for new software you buy it again. Windows OS, MS Office, Games.
