SOTC had amazing art direction. The green, washed out fog gave the game a feeling of isolation and strangeness as the developers intended. Crisp, clear graphics mean nothing alone. There's an art to it going way beyond that.

I'll never understand the color correction haters. Orange/yellow looks good, surreal, cinematic. You really want to see the same washed out colors you see in real life? We don't play games to see what we see every day. That's boring. We want something out of the ordinary and exciting.

I get it. The gameplay is the meat, and that's true, but really good visuals don't require mounds of money. I was really talking less about Mass Effect and more about Dragon Age. Play either game, the visuals are awful. Then check out some user-made areas and mods for DA1. Many of them were able to beautify Dragon Age…

Looks amazing, and I adore MMOs, but it's a choice between real life and the game. I had to choose real life.. maybe when I'm 50 and bored I can play MMOs again.
