PCIE 3.0 speeds on the Xbox Series are not exactly old tech but the are making people pay $100 for an easy to use proprietary expansion card. And prices only can fall so far, Sata ssds haven’t come down in price for years leveling out at like $100/tb the same as pcie 3.0 ssds which are 4-5 times as fast.
