So let me get this straight: they just had Hogwarts Legacy, a best-selling game of 2023 that’s single-player with no microtransactions and no live-service component to it, and Suicide Squad which is a GaaS disaster (in a successful Arkham series that was single-player up to this point) that went as low as 250 players…

Which AAA devs could solve by making smaller, tighter games and charging less money for them.

But the line has to go up and to the right. Hogwarts made 90% of all of the sales it will ever make in 2023 - that’s what the execs see.  And it fucking sucks. 

So double down on the thing we just said was a failure and move away from the thing that was a financial success?? Well it’s WB/Discovery so i guess that tracks on making dumb decisions.

They are going to keep pushing a future where everything in a game is monetized. The bean counters and executives are making these decisions and the creatives will just have to work around them. I won’t be playing those games however.

It’s no longer about giving us quality games. It’s about turning console games into app games with in game purchases. Look, I’m not a competitive gamer. I don’t play Fortnite, Apex and COD players to prove I’m the best player. At that point it becomes a sport. I hate sports! I like to go on single player action/adventu…

Pretty much my exact thoughts ever since its incarnation. AND i’ve got 17 more years of existence than you. So this is the dumbest fucking thing for at least HALF A CENTURY.

Man, I have a few games on the PS5 (like 5?) but honestly feel like there’s been so little I care about on it. I feel like at this rate I’m going to end up owning fewer PS5 games than Wii U games. I think it’s the first console I might regret buying. I hope KH4 at least comes out on it.

I’ve only had my PS5 a little over a year took me that long to get one without jumping through hoops and using online trackers.

Yeah, by the end of the PS4's life, games were really taking a long time to load, for one thing. I remember something like 2-3 minute load times for Control. PS5 isn’t struggling with a single thing I’ve seen.

What would they even do for a new console? I imagine it’s gonna feel like PS5.5, at best. Like, come on, man. I just got mine last February. Let’s get some more Sony stuff in the pipe.

Totally agree.  I’ve only played 1 PS5 game which was a new release and not an upgrade from the PS4 version I already owned.

Man, my PS5 still feels like a newish addition to my console collection. I have no desire for an upgrade. It doesn't even feel like games are pushing it to its limits yet.
