Where do you live that comprehensive coverage (with a deductible, no less) is worth it on a $1500 car?

For me, I’d likely consider somewhere in the neighbourhood of $2000, but that would be to get a tremendous colour from an awful colour, not to go from silver to white.

I’m in a similar boat as you, though not the same. I started playing D&D with 3e and, to this day, I still don’t understand 2e, which is what NWN uses.

It doesn’t dissipate energy. That transfers more of the crash force to the occupants, which is a bad thing.
