You can connect strip wit sensor directly instead of the single beam ones, it works the same way and is not even that expensive. You can even have multiple strips, but then you need need to have simple AND logic implemented, that can be done with relays, so no biggie anyway.
That suspension on c3 is really just marketing, in reality it is not so smooth ride, and old CXes and stuff were different league. Still no cheap or small car with comfy suspension on the market.
