Says you don’t want to belittle the story, and then you just go ahead and do that. Look at the context? Okay. He kissed her without her permission. He later took a picture where he pantomimed groping her while she was asleep. As a “joke”.

Fuck. Off.

>I am assuming(I may be an ass) that the HR office had no women.

All HR is like that, some just hide it better. They’re there to hire you, make sure nothing happens to you that will allow you to sue the company, and fire you.

You mean every single job ever.

Don’t know if it would do any good. My own experience with HR is not from a tech company but a retailer who shut down in 2005.

Yes, the floodgate has opened and the stories are coming out. We haven’t heard as many of them in the video game industry yet, but they’re coming. Kotaku is actively working on several investigations right now that will hopefully lead to more harassment getting exposed. (And of course, if anyone reading this has any

Given that HR reports to the conpany management, they really cannot be trusted to advocate on behalf of the employee, regardless of the department’s training. HR exists to limit the company’s liability.

That HR response is beyond normal. HR is a department at the company and their job is to protect the company. The whole point of that document was to make sure that in case a lawsuit were to follow, they’d have an admission of guilt they could use to discredit the victim. HR is not your friend.

Props for reporting on this - I wouldn’t have heard about it otherwise. It’s good to see that most industries are pulling back the shades on sexual harassment and assault right now.

People need to realize HR departments aren’t there for your rights. They are there to protect the company. The company will always come first.

a common thread in these recent stories seems to be how poorly HR departments handle claims and really only serve the company’s best interests rather than its employees. Hopefully these shitty incidents will spark some change.

With you completely. I love my French press, and use it every weekend morning... and on weekdays, I want to just hit a button, go figure out what tie to wear today, and come back to a hot mug of coffee. I do go so far as to use my own grounds (New England brand is very good) in a reusable filter usually, but I just

Takei was the first “liberal” that I realized may just be a token guy. He’s tweeted insuling things about the mentally ill before. He’s insinuated that women are “gross”, along with other sexist statements. He’s body shamed and fat shamed, in particular.

THANK YOU.

It saddened me to see so many people commenting in the other story that they don’t believe Takei’s accuser, even when they believe accusers in other cases.
