I know next to nothing about the Iranian airforce except for the fact that they managed to get F-14’s into the air.

On one hand I’m happy to see that someone still flies F-14’s.

About the pep boys thing.

It’s not safe to fly because They over stressed it to a point where they can’t be sure it won’t break on a future flight. Not all damages are readily apparent in such a complex machine and no one will sign off once they know the warranty is void

This seems a little out of the way...

Passive aggressive at a whole new level...

The question is what would be the point?
It takes the enemy two seconds to realize its been nuked and either retaliate or turn the world against you. A new doomsday weapon is just an empty threat compared to cold war.

So I’m not clear on this 700mpg thing...

I was expecting this at the top of the thread.
It’s the ultimate “why did nobody make this?” bike.

Americans like the freedom of choice, which is why guns are legal and why cars will have the human driven option for the foreseeable future.

We can, Altho it’s annoyingly limited by enlikes of the ATF.

The fact that Americans own ar’s is a testament to ingenuity in itself. We’ve managed to advance the design of bullpups, computer machined parts, and optics in our civilian market. Much of it just to get around the restrictions

I like this...

Yes, but a gun from a ship has a range and time limitation. Unless the target is another ship that bullet still needs a minute to reach far inshore.
It’s not the same as a plane that can loiter, spot a target, and drop a bomb or do a strafing run seconds later.

Planes can be reused tho. It’s like saying a gun isn’t cheap compared to hand grenades, forgetting that bullets themselves are inexpensive.

I think the problem with carriers and our air fleet in general is that we’ve over engineered our weaponry for the conflicts that we actually have.
We are making the mistake that

The problem is that accurate weaponry costs money and most of our low tech enemies know we can’t sustain a high tech war against them.
You need that low cost option of cheap air support and cheaper ordnance.

Making a guess that this is where the anchor chain runs from the windlass down to the hooks.
Water rides up the bow and out through the hole.

I know its purely jet porn, but a part of me always hoped someone would have picked up the F-15 active.
Right now I’m just hoping that Israel’s interest makes the Airforce look at its end goals again. Because going with the Silent Eagle seems far more budget friendly for a large fleet than trying to complete the F-35A

That’s the core of the problem.

A man needs help escaping from a flood and you give him two anchors...
