It's nothing to do with age, really — it's open-mindedness and intelligence. Some of us "old folk" are perfectly capable of understanding both Vampire Diaries (really not that complicated) and NCIS, but don't care about Bachelor/ette.

It's pretty meaningful when it influences whether you get to see it or not.
