I wish the people who think this is a compliment or friendly could see how often the cat callers turn nasty when not responded to. I wish the people who think this is a compliment or friendly could see how often the cat callers turn nasty when not responded to. Laughing for a full minute at that, tears and all. Guess all the accumulated creepy needed a release. Love the stories.

Make two pizzas. Eat some and use the empty but still oily pan to make a lid to store all leftovers. Secure with a fat rubber band or two, if neccesary. Why use all the expensive, and perhaps-questionable-in-contact-with-oily-food, and forever-archived-in-landfill plastic? Especially if you make good pizza. Doesn't

As long as we all know the 'rules'. :)

Your point is valid in general, but ethocentricity is not implied here, I believe. It is a bit hard to tell what exactly OP meant, can't speak for that person, but appears to be discussing world-wide cultures.

Got that concept. OP was talking about ancient cultures in general.

Some truth to this, but perhaps mom would be an easier person to appreciate if she had been brought up with more power/self love herself.

Good article to think on. However, I believe the OP is talking about the past, or pre-historical social groups. Hell, we are primative, compared to what we hopefully might be.

People come from different places, many white people's empathy is broken, by defensiveness, guilt, their own struggles and daily concerns, and rationalization. Some people do not exactly understand or get close to practicing empathy. In this case, there is a disconnect between where OP is and many of the people who

In my experience, discussing regrets about becoming a parent is still taboo, particularly for women. Hence all the mommy vs. childfree wars and commercial manipulation of and lipservice towards moms. Also many parents' current intense dependence on their role as parents, to the exclusion of other vital parts of

Oh Dear, dcgirl, that is not intended at you, I did read your post! So sorry, not clear at all, posted at a weird hour, and thrown off by terrible subject, and being in grey purgatory.

Being in the grey is making me feel like it doesn't matter what I say, so apologies for copy and paste if annoying, but I think this applies:

I've read and seen various viewpoints on Ferguson, and sickened at how many people are arguing that this has nothing to do with race, or are oblivious to this. This is closely parallel with the self soothing justifications blaming rape victims. How do people do this? What is blocking simple empathy for 'others'?

Sure would like to get out of the greys.

About cognitive dissonance:

Now I have just read through these replies, and sickened at how many people are arguing that this has nothing to do with race. This is closely parallel with blaming rape victims. How do people do this? What is blocking simple empathy for 'others'? I would suggest it might have to with feeling that if racism is a thing

Oh! I was just thinking this the other day. Yes.

A pressure cooker. It cooks stuff 2 to 10 times faster. Pondered over it for a few years (!) since I just don't need more stuff. The new ones are really easy to use, nice looking
