This is a big reason why any movement to do anything about this problem seems so difficult in society. We have abusers in the police and judicial system in charge of enforcing and enacting laws. We have abusers in the media reporting on high profile cases and allegations. We have abusers in our religious organizations

My only complaint is that Boone went with 3 claps instead of 4 or 5 for “tighten this shit up”. Amazingly he gets the a clap per syllable for Tighten right, but then stops after the next clap on “this”. Only 3 claps is an unacceptable level of sass and he needs to “tigh [clap] ten [clap] this [clap] shit [clap] up

I was amazed by how calm he was during that. Usually umps/refs think they did nothing wrong so they get in a shouting match OR they know they messed up and don’t like being embarrassed and get into a shouting match. Obviously as he gains more experience this type of thing won’t happen .. he will be quicker to toss out

That rant was such an amazing cultural moment that just got gobbled up in the churn of 24/7 social media. Amazing as it was coupled with him being arrested for assault against his mother and sister (charges later dropped) at around the same time of the outburst in July 2008. It did bring us this amazing song though.

Tyreek Hill scares me immensely. A domestic abuser who chokes their partner is 10 times more likely to kill their partner in the future. That same partner is still in a relationship with him and they have a child together. Even if the child broke his arm falling off the playground at school, the texts and phone

Good for you. No snark. Recognizing patterns of behavior in yourself, acknowledging that they are wrong, and acting on that to improve yourself is not simple. Breaking those patterns is necessary to break the generational cycles of abuse in families and those that have been codified in society. Props for being vocal

Regardless if any of that WAS true, the bottom line is

Well, it’s not a Trump statue...

Serena is easily the best tennis player of all time. Easily

At least those balls won’t be punched

Agreed. He had a bad miss after a great move, but otherwise played a really solid game. His physicality holding off defenders with his back to the goal and gaining possession was very good. His flick to Pulisic after one such play was perfect and nearly sprung a goal. Altidore is a flawed player if he isn’t finishing

Russ isn’t going anywhere. He’s very loyal and he will stay in okc. He’s just going to be pissed at PG jumping ship

Oh man, Russ is going to be salty about this

Wearing the flag as apparel began as a protest in the 1960s for this reason.

So I posted this and some of the facts in the replies before I looked at any of the comments here. It is sad how well known this information truly is and we still don’t understand why things don’t get better

I am SHOCKED that male police officers seem indifferent to domestic abuse complaints. It is almost as if that behavior does not strike them as anything to be concerned about because it is normal. As if 40% of police officer families experience domestic violence and that is likely missing many others that never get

That’s definitely a valid concern. The other way to potentially look at it is she won on hard courts twice and then lost on clay and grass

That’s a rough first round draw. She lost to someone just outside of a seed, #39. This is not a loss to a wildcard or someone who qualified. She’s still one of the favorites to win the US Open
