I started listening to it in the late 1970s (Specials). Granted we were a small group of fans and we saw the same people at almost all of the shows. I faded out on the late 80s/early 90s ska but that’s when it kinda became “mainstream” in the US so I guess you;re right.

Fun fact: I used to occasionally run into with the guy who played Mike the federal agent on the show (Kevin Dorff, 36 second mark, the guy on the right)) back home in Chicago where he (and I) were big ska fans and were at most of the shows.
